Fenugreek plants can in Methi Pulao, a green fenugreek flavored rice is not only healthy but quick and easy to make too.

To get started with this recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook methi -tomato rice using 18 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Methi -Tomato Rice:
  1. Prepare 2 cups washed and chopped methi leaves
  2. Take 2 tomatoes (chopped)
  3. Prepare 2 tbsp ghee
  4. Take 1 tsp cumin
  5. Get 1 inch cinnamon
  6. Take 1 blk cardamom
  7. Get 2 green cardamoms
  8. Prepare 1 star anise
  9. Make ready 1 bay leaf
  10. Take 1 onion sliced
  11. Prepare 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  12. Prepare 2 chilli slit
  13. Take 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  14. Make ready 1/2 tsp garam masala
  15. Take 1 tsp salt
  16. Make ready 2 Tbsp biryani masala
  17. Prepare 1 cup basmati rice soaked for 20 minutes
  18. Make ready 3 cups water

This is different than the methi rice versions I cook at home. Remove from heat and let the cooker cool down completely. Methi chicken is one of the most flavorful, delicious & simple dish made by simmering chicken in moderately spicy masala along with fenugreek leaves aka methi. It goes well with plain rice, roti, naan or with paratha.

Instructions to make Methi -Tomato Rice:
  1. Wash and soak rice for 15-20 min - - Then take rice in a big bowl with 3 cups of water and let it boil. Add salt,turmeric powder, cinnamon stick, star anise and cardamom to the water with rice. This will make rice flavorful
  2. Now take a wok - Add ghee and cumin seeds - When they crackle add bay leaf and sliced onions - - Let them sauté - Add ginger garlic paste - - Sauté for sometime
  3. Now add biryani masala and stir - Add chopped tomatoes and let them cook nicely. Biryani masala is flavorful so no other masala is needed.
  4. Add methi leaves and stir till the water is absorbed - - By now the rice must have boiled - Drain out the excess water and add rice in the the wok
  5. Stir rice gently alongwith the prepared methi tomato masala
  6. Once it’s mixed all over nicely - Switch off the flame and serve hot with any raita or plain curd

I had mentioned earlier that I prepare fenugreek greens rice in two different ways. I have already posted a recipe on Methi Pulao or Methi rice. Here is my another version of preparing Methi rice using another masala. Add oil to a pressure cooker. Add whole garam masala, ground nuts, cashew nuts, green chilles, onions and ginger garlic paste.
